I’ve be away for so long. Ages. Bloody ages, I tell you.
I’m sorry, my lovelies; things have been so hectic in my personal life right now.
To kick off my return, let’s do something a little different: a tag game. Specifically, building a harem, because who doesn’t want to be treated like an absolute goddess, worshiped by several delicious prospects? Thanks for the nomination, Yomu!
Just so y’all know, This was super difficult to dwindle down. Let’s be happy I got it to this number, alright?
The rules are as follows:
- Link back to the original post on Anime QandA so they can check out everyone’s picks!
- Use the ‘Build A Harem’ logo somewhere in the post.
- Make sure to mention the person who nominated you too!
- Pick 5 Anime Characters (any show & any gender) that would be in your ideal harem if you were the main character of a harem anime, explain a little bit as to why they are your picks (if you want).
- Make sure each character you pick falls into some of the following harem character types: Childhood friend, tom boy/girl, genki girl/boy, loli/shota, trap, tsundere, yandere, kuudere, dandere, etc. (If there’s a character you’ve picked that doesn’t specifically fall into one of these types or falls into multiple types that’s fine too!)
- Nominate 5 people to participate in this tag!
Zen Wistaria: Princely:
So this wasn’t an archtype in the above list, but I think it should be. The princely and charming character is legitimately found in the majority of shojo romance anime. For me, the best prince is Zen. He’s adventurous, loyal, protective while not overbearing, handsome, athletic… what can’t this guys do?! But actually. I’m in love. With him, and his relationship to Shirayuki. Too good for this world. Too Pure.
Killua : Shota: lolita
THE EPITOME OF LOOKS LIKE A CINNAMON ROLL BUT CAN ACTUALLY KILL YOU. This pick is an easy one for me. How could I know go for my little abused pikachu of a boy. Killua’s tragic backstory, his clear trauma, his loyalty to Gon… There’s so much to love. Also, the yo-yo’s. I’m such a sucker for yo-yo’s as a weapon.
Trafalgard Law: Tsundere
Okay, well, I have a thing for tragic backstories and angst, clearly, and this little devil-fruit user definitely has one! My little tsundere Surgeon of Death. I mean, like he’s “betsuni” personified. Even with Corazon, he had an air of ‘I don’t really care’, when his actions proved otherwise. Laid back yet unrelentless when pursuing his goals, I can’t help but fall for him.
Levi Ackerman: Kuudere sarcastic and cool
You want sarcastic? You want cool? You want Levi Ackerman. Bonus points: he’s a badass motherfucker, and he’s a clean freak. I also love that he’s short, and hey, he’s taller than my 5’2″ frame, so that’s all that matters. He rarely shows emotion, and is considered cold, blunt, even insulting. HOWEVER, he has a strong sense of morality and empathy. and cares greatly for his subordinates’ welfare.
Genos: Dandere
My beloved little, justice-centered, serious Cyborg. He doesn’t have many friends other than Saitama, largely due to his obsession to become stronger, ultimately setting him up as a perfect awkward, shy and quiet character.
Gajeel Redfox: Oranyan
So here it is, my ship of ships. I probably should make an entire post about how much I love Gajeel and Levy, but that’s not what we’re discussing at the moment. Talk about character development: Gajeel changed because of meeting Levi, despite their first, abusive encounter. Despite his tough exterior, he’s emotionally vulnerable. While he’s frankly a jackass to most, he would and does everything in his power to “protect the woman he fell for”. UGH. TOO MUCH. I AM DECEASED.
Yato, God of Calamity: the Husbando, and Lovable dork
I am such Noragami trash. Like Yato, I shall live in that rubbish bin until my ship becomes canon.
In all seriousness, his character is ridiculously round: there are times he’s serious and mysterious, crude and unpredictable, cruel and merciless, fun and silly, charming and protective…. I can’t. Honestly, someone stop me. I need to write a Yato appreciation post at some point. He’s fierce in pursuit of his goal of becoming a recognized God of Fortune and shedding his past self of calamity, depravity and war. His unrelenting belief in Yukine and loyalty to his regalia, transcends heartwarming. It’s infectious, and all the more reason why he has stolen my heart.
And that is (quite literally) all she wrote. I’d nominate others, but it looks like I’m a bit late to the tagging game. Feel free to link your posts in the comments below! I’d love to see your harems!
Watch on, Annieme-niac!
